Yep

When did this kid start answering questions so appropriately? At his IEP they said he can sometimes choose when given 2 choices. I told them that at home he does not need 2 choices but can make a choice. And now it seems I am at times getting an appropriate yes or no too.
Me: "do you want something to eat?"
Nathan: "fruit."
Me: (mishearing) "food? What kind of food?".
Nathan: (repeating himself) "fruit."
Me: "fruit. Do you want some juice with it?"
Nathan: "yep."
Me: "v8 juice?"
Nathan: "yep."

It may not sound like much, but it's a conversation, it's turn-taking, it's really appropriate verbal communication.
And when in the heck did he start saying "yep"?
