Pretend play and favorite toys

We have some more pretend play going on! Nathan (who has had fever recently himself) tried to take daddy's temperature the other day, by sticking the thermometer in daddy's armpit. This morning, after I brushed his teeth, he took his hairbrush, said "brush" and proceeded to pretend to brush his teeth with it.

He's also been holding auditions for favorite toy. One day it was the Slinky that had to go everywhere with him: for a walk, in the bath, to bed. The next day it was the foam bumper corner he peeled off the coffee table. The foam corner came in the car, into the post office, all around the post office and back into the car, with Nathan never for a moment letting go. Nathan gets pretty upset if I won't let some if these items (say, fabric or plush toys) accompany him into the bath or to the table to eat yogurt (if you have ever witnessed Nathan eating yogurt, you'll understand why). Getting him dressed or undressed around the toy of the day involves transfer of toy from one hand to the other so that each arm can go into a sleeve without putting the toy down. A cumbersome or bulky toy makes it hard for Nathan to climb into his stroller or carseat, but he is persistent and will not put the toy down or hand it to mom to climb up.
